Matador Involvement Center (MIC)

The Matador Involvement Center (MIC) is the place to learn more about getting involved on campus and meeting people. The MIC connects students to dynamic co-curricular programs that empower them to make the most of their college experience. The MIC offers resources including campus event guidance, involvement advisement, leadership training, sport club support and new club development. The MIC is a part of the Office of Student Involvement and Development—connecting, developing and celebrating our students.

Clubs and Organizations

Students can engage in around 300-plus clubs and organizations that represent a broad range of areas including academic, athletic, community-oriented, cultural, political, religious and social. Matasync connects students to all of the different active clubs and organizations on campus. The goal of the MIC is to foster community through collaboration and to build a sense of belonging among students. The MIC helps student leaders access campus resources and gain skills to use in their future careers. The MIC wants Matadors to discover their shine and ultimately realize they are home here at CSUN.

Fraternity and Sorority Life

The MIC has more than 50 diverse fraternities and sororities, which are governed by five unique councils: the Interfraternity Council (IFC), the Independent Greek Council (IGC), the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), the Panhellenic Council (PHC) and the United Sorority & Fraternity Council (USFC). A fraternity or sorority can aid in student success by developing leadership skills and fostering a sense of belonging. Fraternity and sorority students engage in high-impact programming meant to improve the overall college experience both socially and academically. As one of the largest student populations under the student-life umbrella, members are involved both in the campus community and in the community-at-large. Students who join fraternities and sororities at CSUN are taught the importance of active participation in community service projects. Furthermore, members will be exposed to career opportunities through interaction with fraternity and sorority alumni.

Unified We Serve—The Volunteer Program at CSUN

Students who are interested in giving to the community can do so with Unified We Serve, the campus volunteer program. Unified We Serve is a great avenue for students to begin the process of exploring community and volunteer opportunities. Through volunteerism, students can expand interests and goals, learn and develop skills and meet new people socially and professionally. The program’s mission is to unify students, faculty, staff and community members together to provide the greatest amount of resources to better serve the community. Unified We Serve believes that it is through connection and collaboration that positive and productive change can be generated in the community.

CSUN Food Pantry

The CSUN Food Pantry is a resource available to CSUN students, faculty and staff to alleviate food insecurity within the campus community. The pantry provides emergency nourishment and basic necessities at no cost. The pantry’s goal is to minimize the academic pressure students feel by providing them needed essentials. The CSUN Pop-up Pantry, the newest basic need initiative, is a mobile pantry that pops up at different locations around campus once a month to provide food resources to the CSUN community. These resources include fresh fruits and vegetables, food tastings, recipe cards, CalFresh application screening and assistance, as well as other basic need resources.

CSUN CalFresh Outreach

CalFresh is a nutrition assistance program that helps low-income individuals and families buy the food they need. CalFresh dollars help stretch a tight food budget and help many people afford to incorporate healthy food like fruits and vegetables into their diets. CSUN CalFresh Outreach operates out of the CSUN Food Pantry located in Laurel Hall.
