University Counseling Services (UCS) offers free, confidential, short-term mental health services to students and consultation services to the campus community. All services are designed to assist students in achieving emotional well-being and academic success, as well as to help create a campus environment that is sensitive to students’ mental health needs. The following are examples of services and programs currently available:
- Intake evaluation
- Short-term individual and couples counseling
- Crisis intervention and urgent care assistance:
- Walk-in urgent care Monday–Friday: 8 a.m.–5 p.m.
- Telephone urgent care outside of business hours: Call (818) 677-2366 and select option 3
- Psychiatric evaluation and consultation
- Clinical case management
- Therapy groups and workshops (see website for listings)
- Three-Session Wellness Workshops: RIO (Recognition/Insight/Openness), Anxiety Toolbox and Getting Unstuck
- Mindfulness Workshops: Weekly drop-in workshop and four-session Koru Mindfulness
- Let’s Talk: Informal consultations with counselors at various campus locations (see website for locations)
- Outreach programming on academic, mental health, interpersonal and wellness topics
- Online mental health screenings
- Self-help library of resources
- Videos, blogs and presentations (see website)
- YOU@CSUN (an interactive health and well-being platform)
- Peer education programs (The BLUES Project, JADE, Project D.A.T.E., MenCARE)
- American Psychological Association (APA) accredited doctoral internship training program
- Social Work Internship Program
- Psychiatric resident training
