UNIVERSITY CATALOG: 2023-2024

University Counseling Services (UCS) offers free, confidential, short-term mental health services to students, as well as outreach programs and consultation services to the campus community. Mental health services are provided to enhance student well-being and academic success, and outreach and consultative services actively seek to increase knowledge and skills, de-stigmatize mental health concerns, encourage help-seeking behavior and contribute to the creation of a community of care at CSUN. The following are examples of services and programs currently available:

  • Initial evaluation
  • Short-term individual and couples counseling
  • 24/7 Crisis/Urgent Care Services:
    • During office hours (Monday through Friday, 8 am–5 pm): Call (818) 677-2366 (select Option 1) or walk in for crisis/urgent care services (no appointment needed)
    • Outside of office hours (evenings, weekends and holidays): Call (818) 677-2366 (select Option 3)
  • Psychiatric evaluation and consultation
  • Clinical case management
  • Wellness Workshops: RIO (Recognition/Insight/Openness), Anxiety Toolbox and Getting Unstuck
  • Therapy groups and workshops (see website for listings)
  • Outreach programs (e.g., academic, mental health, interpersonal and wellness topics)
  • Let’s Talk: Informal consultations with counselors at various campus locations (see website for locations)
  • Peer Education Programs: The BLUES Project, JADE, and Project D.A.T.E.
  • Consultation about mental health concerns (e.g., faculty, staff, parents, students, etc.)
  • Online Resources
    • YOU@CSUN (an interactive health and well-being platform)
    • Mental health screenings
    • Self-help library (variety of topics)
    • Resources: Wellness resources; mental health and wellness apps; and hotline and community resources
    • Videos, blogs and recorded presentations
  • Training Programs: American Psychological Association (APA) Accredited Doctoral Internship Program; Social Work (MSW) Internship Program; and Psychiatry Residency Program
