Course: CHEM 423. Forensic Chemistry (3)
Prerequisite: CHEM 321/L. An overview of some aspects of physical forensic science. Focused on the collection, analysis, and interpretation of chemical data obtained by a variety of chemical and instrumental techniques within the context of current topics in forensic science. After a brief introduction to measurement science, relevant chemical foundations, and instrumentation, the course will discuss drugs, poisons, and some applications of forensic toxicology, followed by combustion evidence, including fire investigations, explosives, and firearms. 3 hours of lecture per week.
