Program: Minor in Criminology and Justice Studies
Program Description
The Criminology and Justice Studies minor is designed for students interested in learning more about criminology, criminal justice, law, and social justice. Students pursuing a CJS minor can select from a variety of courses that provide a foundation for the understanding of criminology and justice from a critical approach that considers the experiences of diverse communities.
Program Requirements
1. Fundamentals of Criminology and Justice Studies (6 units)
CJS 101 Introduction to Criminology and Justice Studies (3)
or CJS 302 Crime, Criminal Justice and Society (3)
2. Upper Division Criminology and Justice Studies (15 units)
a. Criminology and Justice Studies (9 units)
Select three of the following:
CJS 310 Juvenile Justice (3)
CJS 320 Introduction to Criminal Law and Legal Analysis (3)
CJS 326 Victimology (3)
CJS 328 Diversity and Crime (3)
CJS 340 Ethics in Criminal Justice (3)
CJS 350 Criminological Theory (3)
b. Electives (6 units)
Select any two 300- or 400-level Criminology and Justice Studies courses.
