Course: ENGL 334. Queer Comics (3)
Prerequisite: Completion of the lower division writing requirement. Preparatory: ENGL 333. Study of comics by and about LGBTQ+ communities, including such forms as graphic novels, comic books, webcomics, comic strips, zines, and manga, as seen from literary, cultural studies, and queer studies perspectives. Emphasis on both history and form, visual portrayals of gender and sexuality, and how comic art may enable the expression of queer identity and culture. Critical writing required.
