The minor in English consists of an 18-unit program in either Literature, Creative Writing, Popular Culture Studies, or Writing and Rhetoric—a minor particularly designed for students whose careers are likely to entail professional and/or technical writing. Though a minor is not required for a baccalaureate degree, many students find it desirable.

The Popular Culture Studies minor teaches methods for critically understanding popular culture, including popular literature and art, entertainment media, social media, fashion, design, sports, music, performance, folklore, pastimes and rituals, and all forms of popular cultural expression, as well as the ways we live our everyday lives.

The Writing and Rhetoric minor is particularly designed for students whose careers are likely to entail professional and/or technical writing.
