Course: EPC 659MFB. Practicum in Family Therapy (3-3)

Prerequisites: EPC 659MFA; Admission to CSUN’s master’s program in Marriage and Family Therapy. Students practice clinical skills, including crisis management and safety planning with suicidal/homicidal clients, child/elder abuse, domestic violence, and self-injury as well as learning how to conduct an initial interview and direct the course of treatment. Additionally, students develop skills needed for clinical documentation, case management, and community referrals. This course is the second semester of the first-year practicum experience in the marriage and family therapy master’s program. To count toward the degree, both EPC 659MFA and EPC 659MFB must be taken in the same academic year. Course may be repeated once for credit.
