Course: FCS 402. Medical Nutrition Therapy I (3-3)
Prerequisite: FCS 308 with a passing grade of “C” or better. This is the first in a two-course sequence in medical nutrition therapy, and includes assessment of nutritional status, nutrition care process, nutritional genomics, pathophysiology, and medical and nutritional management through the lifespan for gastrointestinal disorders, diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular disease, pulmonary disease, cancer, neurologic disorders, and psychiatric and cognitive disorders. The nutritional care process terminology and medical terminology will be addressed.
