Course: HIST 323. History of Antisemitism (3)
Prerequisite: Completion of the lower division writing requirement. History of antisemitism from its ancient roots to its modern manifestations. Topics include the representation of Jews in early Christianity and medieval Christian Europe (including in literature and art); late-nineteenth century outbursts of antisemitism such as the Dreyfus Affair, Russian pogroms, and the Protocols of the Elders of Zion; Nazi racial ideology and the genocide of Jews during the Holocaust; Holocaust denial as a form of antisemitism; contemporary debates about antisemitism; and other issues.
