Course: LIB 290. The Information Ecosystem: Becoming a Savvy User (1)
Students will gain a greater understanding of their role and responsibility in creating and consuming information, in navigating the changing dynamics of the world of information, and in the ethical use of information. Course assignments and activities will foster enhanced engagement with the core ideas about information and the variation in disciplinary scholarship. We will ask broad questions about why information is valuable, how it is constructed and commodified, and how it can be used to marginalize or privilege communities of knowledge and practice. The class is structured to be a student-centered inquiry-based learning community.
