Course: LING 100. Demystifying Language: An Introduction to Linguistics (3)

In this course students will explore the richness and diversity of language while discovering its inner workings. Students will also ask fundamental questions related to language such as: Where does it come from? How does a child develop language and acquire additional ones? How does human language compare to other forms of communication (human and nonhuman)? How is language used in social and cultural activities? Students will gain the tools to analyze language and its complex role in relationships, communities, and societies. Available for General Education, Area 4 Social and Behavioral Sciences.
