## Course: MATH 097. Developmental Mathematics II–Pre-Statistics Emphasis (5)

*Prerequisite: A score of 34 or above, but below 50 on the Entry Level Mathematics (ELM) exam or credit in MATH 092*. Credit will not apply toward the baccalaureate degree but will apply as 5 units of University credit. Successful completion of MATH 097 qualifies students for entrance into MATH 131 and MATH 140. Students who later take MATH 102, MATH 103 and MATH 210 must take the MPT. This course is not open to students who are currently enrolled in or who have received credit in MATH 093. The course covers topics in elementary algebra and pre-statistics: equations and inequalities, polynomials, factoring, graphing, quadratic equations and functions, introduction to statistical vocabulary and reading comprehension in mathematical and statistical contexts, data analysis, basic probability, introduction to the normal distribution and inference.
