Prerequisites: ME 286; CE 340. Corequisite: ME 431L. An advanced mechanical design course with emphasis on computer aided design and design for manufacturing of machine parts. Introduction to machine elements. Metal machining theory, operation, and tool technology. Non-traditional machining and surface treatment. Working drawings, tolerancing, and limits of fit. Fixture design and planning. Available for graduate credit. 2 hours of lecture and 3 hours of lab per week.
