Course: PT 771. Motor Learning, Motor Control and Functional Development (2)
Prerequisite: Classified status in the DPT program. Successful completion of all first-year coursework in the DPT Program. This course aims to promote an understanding of the relationship between principles of neurology and the development of motor skills from birth through the first cycles of life. The primary purpose of this course is to study major systems’ development and to introduce students to motor control and motor learning theories as they relate to normal development. This course also aims to integrate these concepts in the analysis of motor changes that occur throughout the first cycles of life. Students will deepen their understanding of how physical, physiological, psychological, cultural, social, emotional, and environmental factors influence motor development, motor control, and postural control.
