Course: PT 775/L. Pathological Gait, Orthotics and Prosthetics and Lab (3/1)

Prerequisite: Classified graduate status in the DPT program and successful completion of all second-year coursework in the DPT Program. Corequisite: PT 775L. This course is designed to promote an in-depth understanding of the biomechanical and neuromuscular characteristics of gait, running, and functional movements in normal individuals and patients/clients with disability and functional limitations. Both observational and instrumented biomechanical and neuromuscular analyses will be emphasized when evaluating and treating patients/clients with gait and running impairment and the functional loss, including patients with limb loss, neurological, and musculoskeletal conditions. Students are expected to integrate their knowledge and skills from previous classes when engaging in the patient/client examination, evaluation, and determining a physical therapy diagnosis, prognosis, plan of care, and intervention strategies consistent with evidence-based clinical decision making.
