Course: SCI 590. Professional Development to Transform STEM Teaching (3)
Prerequisite: Instructor consent. Directed activities to prepare current and future university-level STEM instructors to increase student engagement and active learning at the post-secondary level. Pedagogical activities focus on current research on student learning, teaching routines, talking as a means to learning, classroom discussion, and student motivation. The class culminates with a structured peer-observation protocol to observe recordings of two teaching examples for each participant. Participants enrolled in this course should have teaching opportunities with students over the course of the semester.
