Course: SOC 524. Gender and Society (3)
Prerequisite: Graduate class standing. Examination of the foundational and contemporary theories of the sociology of gender. Analysis of the ways in which gender structures individual identities, interpersonal relations, role expectations, and patterns of social inequality within institutions such as the family, education, and work. Topics covered include the social construction of gender, intersectionality, sexual identities, and masculinities.
