Program: B.S., Public Health

Overview

The B.S. in Public Health Program is intended to prepare students with the skills needed to understand how to plan, implement and evaluate the educational components of health and human service programs. Public, voluntary and proprietary health and human service agencies, hospitals, organizations, industry and professional consulting firms that provide services to various governmental and private organizations employ graduates of Public Health. Appropriate advisement provides students flexibility in the selection for various health education career opportunities. These opportunities include health promotion, school health education, community health education and health education generalist.

Student Learning Outcomes

Students in the Public Health program will:

  1. Demonstrate knowledge of public health and health education program planning, theories of health behavior, change assessment and intervention, and multicultural influences impacting the delivery of public health interventions.
  2. Apply knowledge and skills necessary of program planning, implementation and evaluation of health education programs in a variety of practice settings.
  3. Demonstrate a mastery of biostatistical and epidemiological meth­ods appropriate to the public health practice.
