Program: Minor in Dance

Program Description

The minor in Dance is designed to provide a basis for dance experience and potential employment opportunities in the field of performance, choreography and teaching. In order to prepare for the professional demands of dance, there are five domains in the dance minor: technique, pedagogy, world dance/cultural diversity, choreography and production. The Dance minor focuses on acquiring the skills needed to: (1) teach dance within school and community settings, (2) enhance technical facility as a dancer, and (3) choreograph and mount new works for stage, film and/or television.

Courses relevant to dance taken in the Departments of Theatre or Music may also count toward a minor in Dance, with the approval of an advisor. Advisors in the Department of Kinesiology are available for student consultation.
