University Counseling Services (UCS) offers free, confidential short-term counseling to students and consultation services to the campus community. All services are designed to assist students in achieving emotional well-being and academic success, as well as to help create a campus environment that is sensitive to students’ mental health needs. The following are examples of services and programs currently available:
- Intake evaluation
- Short-term individual and couples counseling
- Crisis intervention and urgent care assistance
- Psychiatric evaluation and consultation
- Therapy groups and workshops (see website for listings)
- RIO (Recognition/Insight/Openness) Program
- HeartMath biofeedback software
- Outreach programming on academic, mental health, interpersonal and wellness topics
- Peer education programs (The BLUES Project, JADE, Project D.A.T.E., MenCARE)
- American Psychological Association (APA) accredited doctoral internship training program
- Psychiatric resident training
