Associated Students (AS) is the student voice at California State University, Northridge (CSUN), advocating for students’ needs and ensuring that student perspectives are heard and valued across campus. AS is dedicated to creating a vibrant, inclusive environment where students can connect, get involved, and make the most of their academic, social, and cultural experience.
Regularly matriculated students are automatically members of AS—an incorporated campus organization led by a board of directors made up of elected student representatives, including a president, vice president, and 22 college representatives. Through AS, students have the opportunity to shape campus policies, influence how resources are allocated, and provide input on university decisions. AS Student Board Members also represent student interests on campus advisory boards.
The AS fee directly supports programs and services designed for students. These funds help sustain more than 200 student clubs and organizations, provide leadership development opportunities, and fund scholarships that support student success.
AS offers a wide range of programs and services to support student life both inside and outside the classroom, including the Ticket Office, Outdoor Adventures, Sport Clubs, Children’s Center, Sustainability Center, AS Productions and Sustainability, a Transportation Subsidy program and a robust on-campus student employment program. Students can also build community and get involved through Camp Matador and campus events such as concerts, films, and guest speakers.
Through AS, students can take on leadership roles, gain valuable work experience through on-campus employment, and access scholarships and endowments that help them achieve their personal and academic goals.
