The Office of Community Engagement (OCE) supports CSUN’s mission to cultivate reciprocal partnerships among students, faculty, staff, and community partners. OCE enhances academic experiences by facilitating community-based (service) learning classes, promoting co-curricular engagement activities, implementing community-based research and creative activities, and fostering sustainable community-engaged initiatives within the San Fernando Valley, the greater Los Angeles area, and beyond.
OCE provides the following support to engaged faculty:
- Pedagogical development
- Risk management support
- Data assessment, including pre- and post-service evaluations
- Competitive grants to support the development of new community-based (service learning) courses, community-engaged research or creative activity projects, and community-based (service learning) course projects
OCE promotes voter education and empowerment, and it collaborates across the University to encourage voter registration and participation in the democratic process. Resources are also offered to community partners, including help with developing programming, social media, grants research, and more.
