Professional academic advisors at “The Hub” offer a variety of support services to Exploratory students in order to promote and foster student development and academic success. Holistic services include first-year major exploration and General Education (GE) advisement, assistance in identifying short-term goals, and referrals to College and University resources for academic, personal and professional development. In addition, the Hub-International Academic Advisement Center provides comprehensive support and advisement services to all new F-1 international undergraduate students. Individualized and group services include early outreach, academic advisement, first-semester enrollment into degree applicable courses, workshops promoting student success and second-semester referrals.

The Exploratory major at California State University, Northridge offers students a structured pathway to discover their academic and major interests while making progress toward graduation. The Matador Academic Pathways (MAP) program for Exploratory students provides dedicated academic advisors from the Matador Advising Hub.  Our purpose is to help students explore various disciplines and identify a major that aligns with their strengths, values, and goals. Exploratory students benefit from personalized guidance, career assessment tools, and a supportive community that encourages academic exploration and self-discovery. The program is designed to facilitate a timely transition into a degree program, typically within the first 45-60 units, ensuring students can complete their bachelor’s degree efficiently while gaining valuable insights about themselves and potential career paths.
