CHEM 411. Synthesis (1)

Prerequisite: CHEM 334/L. Corequisite: CHEM 411L. CHEM 411 is a lecture course that examines chemical syntheses reported in the primary chemical literature. Initially, students are introduced to methods of searching chemical databases, including online journals. Next, they work in groups to prepare and deliver an oral presentation. This report will be a critical analysis of several total syntheses of a natural product that has been published in the recent literature. Issues of regio- and stereoselectivity will be addressed. 1 hour of lecture per week.
