Recommended Preparatory: Completion of the lower division writing requirement. Exploration and critical assessment of the role of dance, music, and theatre from Chicana/o, Indigenous, and racially diverse communities in supporting children’s self-knowledge, positive ethnic identity development, and achievement. Practice aesthetic valuing of works of dance, music, and theatre. Application of choreographic principles, processes, and skills to create and communicate meaning through dance. Exploration of fundamental musical concepts such as pitch, rhythm, melody, and tempo. Students participate in individual performances, group activities, and collaborative projects related to dance, music, and theatre in the elementary classroom. Available for graduate credit.
