Course: LRS 260. Applied Philosophical Approaches for Future Teachers (3)
Prerequisite: ITEP-Freshman Option students only. Corequisite: LRS 250. This course is designed to extend information and concepts presented in LRS 250. The focus of this course is on the application of key themes in philosophy (such as argumentation and reasoning, knowledge and justification, ethics and values, and the nature of reality) to learning in the K-12 classroom. The role of children’s literature, media, and/or culture are examined as a vehicle for this exploration. Students are required to connect theory with practice and complete up to 10 hours participating and/or observing in an elementary school.
