Bilingual Authorization in Spanish, Korean, or Armenian may be obtained concurrently with the preliminary teaching credential or after students obtain their preliminary teaching credential first. They are required to take SED 525BL Teaching the Bilingual and Bicultural Student (3 units) and a culture-specific class, i.e., CHS 430 The Chicano Child (3 units) or CHS 431 The Chicano Adolescent (3 units) for Spanish bilingual authorization; or SED 516K Teaching the Bilingual and Bicultural Student: Korean-American (3 units) for Korean bilingual authorization; or ARMN 440 The Armenian American Child (3 units) for Armenian bilingual authorization. They must also pass the CSET LOTE II (Armenian) or III (Korean & Spanish).
