UNIVERSITY CATALOG: 2025-2026

Change of Objective

Enrolled graduate students may seek admission to an alternate degree program by filling out a Change of Objective form. The form can be obtained online. Transfer of previously earned units to the alternate program must have the approval of the department to which the student applies. Students on academic notice may only change their program or submit a Change of Objective form for processing if they have at least a 2.85 overall postgraduate GPA.

Students who intend to pursue an additional graduate degree from CSUN must reapply to the University after completing the former degree.

The Office of Graduate Studies will neither accept nor consider Change of Objective forms submitted by doctoral or master’s students who have been disqualified and not reinstated in their graduate program. Disqualified graduate students must reapply as previously disqualified students if they want to return to CSUN in another program.

Note:

  • Students switching degree programs retain their current GPA.
  • Students who must repeat courses to improve their GPAs should be aware that their former program may not permit them to enroll in former program courses.
