Program Description

The graduate Certificate in Data-Driven Governance and Organizational change prepares students to lead change in a modern, value-driven way, achieve high levels of efficiency in serving the public, and utilize cutting-edge technology in the management of public programs and policies. This certificate will equip students with the frameworks, tools and applied strategies to navigate the complexity of the modern-day public sector.

Public sector leaders must understand the fundamentals of data analytics and possess a strong foundation in data visualization, while integrating an ethical approach to decision making. This program embraces a data-driven approach to public sector management and aims to provide cutting-edge education for public servants by emphasizing problem solving, tackling uncertainty, complexity and is equity-driven.

The certificate is the appropriate for administrators who are currently employed in the public, private or nonprofit sectors and who want to improve their management knowledge and skills. The program has been designed to provide an academically sound and effective course of study for midcareer professionals who have successfully earned their baccalaureate or master’s degrees.

The curriculum is designed to equip public sector professionals with the essential skills and knowledge to leverage data for informed decision making. In an era where public administration is increasingly reliant on data-driven insights and adaptable leadership, this program provides a unique blend of technical proficiency and organizational change expertise.

This certificate represents a carefully curated curriculum that blends foundational concepts of data analytics and organizational assessment skills with advanced coursework in organizational change management. Students will delve into topics such as statistical analysis, data visualization, artificial intelligence and strategic change leadership and learn how data analytics can improve the governance of public networks.

This program is available through self support (funded entirely by student fees and offered in a cohort format) in partnership between one of the CSUN academic colleges and The Tseng College.

Program Requirements

A. Admission Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  2. Minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.5.

B. Graduation Requirements

  1. Completion of a minimum of 15 semester units of approved graduate courses.
  2. Completion of at least 15 of these units in residence.
  3. Completion of all coursework with a GPA of at least 3.0.
