Course: SPED 580ECI. Practicum in Early Childhood Special Education: PreK/K (6)
Prerequisites: Admission to the Intern Program for the Educational Specialist Credential in ECSE or admission to the Special Education master’s program, SPED 402EC, SPED 532, SPED 520EC. The purpose of this course is to provide a practicum of at least 100 hours in a preschool/prekindergarten (PK), transitional kindergarten (TK), or kindergarten (K) setting with young children who have IEPs. This course is required for candidates in the Early Childhood Special Education Intern Program who are employed in early intervention programs. It may also be taken by candidates in other programs who are required to complete a practicum with PK-K children with IEPs. Supervision is provided by the cooperating teacher and through on-site visits by the university supervisor, analysis of videos and online reflection.
