Program: Entertainment Industry Management, M.A.
Program Description
The Entertainment Industry Management master’s program prepares students to be the next generation of managers and leaders for the entertainment industry. Students in this program will be taught by experts in the entertainment industry and will be required to take hands on classes in production management, storytelling/script analysis, entertainment law, media analytics, as well as complete a graduate project focused on the entertainment industry. This fully online program provides students with a skill set that is needed in the entertainment industry in order to enable them to be leaders in this thriving industry. The M.A. Entertainment Industry Management program will be offered as a cohorted program, in a fully online modality. Due to the cohorted nature of the program, all students will take the courses in an order that has been pre-determined by the faculty, based on the needs of the entertainment industry.
Program Requirements
A. Requirements for Admission to the Program
All applicants must meet the following requirements before they can enroll in the M.A. Entertainment Industry Management program. The admissions decision made by the department will be final.
- Have a four-year baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution (or equivalent institution for international applicants).
- Be in good academic standing at the last college or university attended.
- Have satisfied one of the following conditions:
- Attained a GPA of at least 2.5 in a baccalaureate degree program.
- Attained a GPA of at least 2.5 in the last 60 semester (90 quarter) units attempted.
- Hold a post-baccalaureate degree earned at a regionally accredited institution and 2.5 GPA in either the undergraduate cumulative GPA or the last 60 units.
- Submit their most recent resume.
- Submit a one-page statement of purpose, in which the student should talk about their prior work experience, why they want to be in this program and what they hope to do once they graduate from the program.
B. Requirements for Classified Status
To meet the minimum requirements for classified status, the student must fulfill the
following:
- 3.0 GPA or higher in all work taken after completion of a bachelor’s degree.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.

Program Learning Outcomes
Students receiving a Master of Arts in Entertainment Industry Management will be able to:
- Analyze and discern narrative elements of successful content, identify intellectual property which can be expanded upon, and recognize emerging global trends.
- Understand how to create and use budgets, financial statements and controls, and various financing tools for global entertainment business.
- Understand media contracts, intellectual property laws, and industry regulations and be able to apply them to the evolving real-world applications and ethical considerations of various entertainment endeavors.
- Demonstrate competency in developing, pitching, and launching effective entertainment ventures and projects, including marketing, social media, public relations campaigns, and building relationships with global production partners.
- Apply various industry research techniques, including data analytics, to effectively communicate research findings, and develop strategic solutions for entertainment firms.
- Understand production and digital production pipelines, including virtual production, animation/VFX, and technical and managerial skills necessary for various production processes.
