Program: Minor in Public Health
Program Description
The Public Health Minor provides a broad, interdisciplinary foundation in public health concepts making it an excellent complement to various degree programs. The minor is ideal for students planning to enter the field or pursue advanced degrees in public health or related health professions such as medicine or nursing. Students in the minor gain the knowledge and critical thinking skills necessary to address health disparities, social determinants of health, and health policy, while enhancing community health and well-being through coursework in health promotion, epidemiology, and environmental health.

Program Learning Outcomes
Students receiving a minor in Public Health will be able to:
- Describe important public health issues in a variety of settings.
- Apply concepts which impact the quality and delivery of health services in the United States.
- Describe the biological, behavioral, and environmental factors that affect population health.
- Identify major constructs of health behavior theory to develop effective intervention strategies.
- Demonstrate knowledge of biological, chemical, and physical factors that can impact the environment and human health.
- Develop strategies to successfully organize and mobilize communities for better health.
