Course: EED 550DEC. Supervised Clinical Practice for ECE Program Completion (5-5-5)
Prerequisites: Admission to the ECE Credential Program–University Intern Pathway; currently a teacher of record for a PK-3 classroom; verification of eligibility from the Credential Office; and clearance for student teaching from the Credential Office. EPC 430, EED 520, EED 565M, EED 555, SPED 402EC, EPC 634, SPED 431, EPC 683 or SPED 535, EPC 642 or SPED 520EC, EED 559D, EED 559G, EED 560EC, EED 561EC. This supervised clinical practice experience provides the ECE candidate the opportunity to remain enrolled in a program, required by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC), as a stipulation of intern eligibility, to complete their external program requirements while continuing to be supported in their classroom practice. Candidates will continue to have the opportunity to establish connections among course content, theories of teaching and learning, and classroom pedagogy. Interns will develop skills in planning daily standards-based lessons, implementing the elementary curriculum, engaging and supporting all students in learning, using educational technology, assessing student learning, and developing as a professional educator. Candidates plan lessons that provide access to the curriculum for all students and use a range of instructional strategies to tailor and adapt instruction as necessary to meet individual student needs. There is consistent focus on implementing positive behavioral support strategies with students and developing general pedagogical skills such as planning and teaching effective, meaningful, engaging lessons in all subjects, as well as integrated and designated English language development (ELD). Interns are provided formative feedback on supervised teaching and other examples of appropriate supervision activities (co-planning, assessment reflection, PLCs) from their on-site support provider and university supervisor to help them move toward mastery of the California Teaching Performance Expectations (TPEs).
